Firewall Setup

AppSwitcher is 100% offline — it never connects to the internet, has no telemetry, and performs no auto-updates. That said, you are welcome to block it in your firewall as an extra layer of assurance. It will continue to work perfectly.

Tip

Blocking AppSwitcher in your firewall is entirely optional. It makes no outbound connections. This page is for users who prefer to verify and enforce that explicitly.

Windows Defender Firewall

Note

You need administrator rights to create firewall rules.

1. Open Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security (search for it in the Start menu).
2. Click Outbound Rules → New Rule.
3. Select Program → Next.
4. Browse to the AppSwitcher executable (e.g. C:\Program Files\AppSwitcher\AppSwitcher.exe).
5. Select Block the connection → Next.
6. Apply the rule to Domain, Private, and Public profiles.
7. Give the rule a name (e.g. Block AppSwitcher) and click Finish.

Verifying with a Network Monitor

If you want to verify that AppSwitcher makes no connections, you can use a tool like Wireshark or GlassWire and filter by the AppSwitcher process. You should see no outbound traffic under normal use.
